Clarksville High School hosted the Region 6 dual wrestling tournament on Thursday. Four schools qualified for this tournament: Clarksville, Rossview, Springfield and Station Camp. In the title match, Rossview defeated Clarksville, 40-11, claiming the first ever regional dual championship for the Hawks boys.
At a dual tournament, individual wrestlers score points for their teams based on their own performances. The team with the most points at the end wins. Clarksville started off defeating Station Camp, while Rossview handled Springfield.
Championship
Clarksville started strong with defending state champion Aidan Brenot getting a pin. The next several bouts were closely fought and highly emotional, providing an electric atmosphere.
Rossview managed a string of victories, which seemed to deflate Clarksville a bit, but the Wildcats continued battling. Clarksville lost one point due to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the fourth bout.
Most bouts went all the way to the third period. The Hawks eked out win after win, pulling further ahead. By the time there were four bouts left, Rossview was mathematically guaranteed to win. Here’s a complete rundown:
