Smyrna wrestling Coach Mark Gonyea won’t be wearing the Purple and Gold colors of Smyrna this coming season. He has accepted a new position as the Stewarts Creek High School wrestling coach starting with the 2013-14 season.

Stewarts Creek will draw largely from LaVergne High School, Smyrna High School, and Blackman High School, likely giving Coach Gonyea a nice roster to build with in a region that lost powerhouse Wilson Central in this season’s realignment.

Replacing Gonyea as the Bulldogs’ head guy will be second year coach Jamie Owens from LaVergne High School. Owens takes over a program that was on the rise last season and looks to build upon the foundation established by Gonyea last season.
