Rebel wrestlers take on Shelbyville in road meet

The Franklin County High School boys and girls wrestling teams competed against the teams of Shelbyville Central Monday in a road meet.

The duals were split for the day with the Rebelettes winning their matchup while the Rebels took an overall loss on the boys side.

The Rebelettes picked up a 24-6 win in the girls portion of the meet with only one actual match being wrestled in the dual.

Charley Evans would pick up that lone victory on the mat for the Franklin County girls as she pinned her opponent in the 120-pound division in 3:47.

Alyssa Archer, Kaylee Coker and Julieta Garcia-Alonzo added forfeit victories to contribute six points each to the final point total.In the boys half of the meet, the Rebels took a loss for their dual against the Golden Eagles by a score of 60-15.

The Rebels had two victories in active competition with Cristian Fravel picking up a pinfall victory for the 126-pound division in 2:27 and Cooper Stevens claiming a narrow 16-14 decision win in the 144-pound weight class.

Juan Hernandez also added a forfeit victory in the 132-pound division, but the rest of the points would be claimed by the hosting Golden Eagles.

The FCHS boys and girls wrestling teams will next compete Tuesday in a home meet against Moore County, Lawrence County and Oakland. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
