Spring Hill hosts girls wrestling regional

The TSSAA Region 3 girls wrestling tournament was held Friday at Spring Hill High School, with athletes from 43 programs across Middle Tennessee participating.

The top four finishers in each of 12 different weight classes qualified for the girls wrestling state championships, which will take place Feb. 23-24 at the Williamson County Ag Expo in Franklin.

Summit, Independence and host Spring Hill combined for six state qualifiers. Finnley Craig, Summit’s 145-pound region champion, will be joined by teammates Samantha O’Leary (235 pounds, second place) and Taylor Parkhurst (114 pounds, third place). Also advancing are Indy’s Aaliyah King (145 pounds, second place) and Laura Gupton (126 pounds, fourth place) and the Raiders’ Isabel Duenas (138 pounds, fourth place).

State tournament wrestling will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, with championship semifinals set to start at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Consolation wrestling will resume Saturday at 9 a.m., with the championship finals scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
