Who are Murfreesboro area’s top boys and girls wrestlers during TSSAA 2024-25 season?

The TSSAA wrestling postseason is approaching, and Murfreesboro area squads should again be represented well.

Girls and boys postseason duals meets begin this week and region, sectional and state individual meets will be held in early February.

Below are Murfreesboro area boys and girls wrestlers to watch entering the postseason.

Boys

Nathan Barbee, Oakland: The 144-pound senior, coming off a state tourney appearance last season. The returning first-team all-area player is 15-4, including winning two matches at the Bradley Invitational.

Riley Correll, Eagleville: The 113-pound eighth grader is 24-2 and finished second at the Red Hawk Rampage.

Chase Creque, Siegel: The 138-pound senior, a three-time state medalist, is having another big season at 31-1, including a Bradley Invitational championship and a third-place finish at the Father Ryan Johnny Drennan Invitational.

Blaise Meeks, Blackman: The 190-pound senior battled an injury during the midseason but is 23-4 this season after finishing fourth in the state last season.

Matthew Pennington, Eagleville: The 113-pound junior, coming off a state appearance last season, is 11-1 and ranked among the top in the state in Class A in his weight class.

Yamil Rashid, Stewarts Creek: The 215 pound junior is 10-1 and has not lost to a Tennessee opponent. He placed third at the Bradley Invitational.

Houston Rettig, Eagleville: The 215-pound senior, who was an all-area selection and state tournament participant, is 24-1 and won the Red Hawk Rampage.

Martin Rezkalla, Stewarts Creek: The sophomore is 23-6 and finished third in the Red Hawk Rampage

Roman Rodriguez, Eagleville: The 106-pound eighth grader is 21-2 and finished second at the Red Hawk Rampage.

Thomas Solomon, Eagleville: The 157-pound junior and returning all-area performer and state tournament participant, is 21-1 and won the Red Hawk Rampage.

Tyson Spink, Riverdale: The 215-pound sophomore captured the title at the Ravenwood tournament.

Drew Workman, Blackman: The 120-pound sophomore is coming off a state runner-up finish last year and is 34-2 (unbeaten in Tennessee) this season, including a Father Ryan Tournament championship and second-place finish at the Bradley Invitational.

Siegel's Chase Creque, shown during the 2024 TSSAA state individual wrestling tournament, is 31-1 and one of the area wrestlers to watch entering the postseason.

Girls

Ellie Bryant, Blackman: The 145-pound junior, who medaled at state last season and was an all-area wrestler, won the Ramsey Rumble

Mya Bundy, Stewarts Creek: The 126-pound sophomore, who finished fourth at state last season, is 14-3 after a second-place finish at the Queen of the Mat tournament and third-place showing at the Rumble for the Rose.

Zoey Crawford, Siegel: The 100-pound sophomore, who won a state tournament match last season, is off to another good year, including finishing runner-up at the Ramsey Rumble.

Mariah Currie, Oakland: The 126-pound senior finished runner-up at the Ramsey Rumble.

Summer Flores, Riverdale: The 145-pound junior is 20-4, having won the Red Hawk Rampage, finishing as a finalist at the Ramsey Rumble and taking fourth at the Coyote Classic.

Adsila Holman, Rockvale: The 132-pound junior is 10-0 and won the Red Hawk Rampage.

Danika Mealer, Riverdale: The 165-pound senior is 16-1, having won the Ramsey Rumble and finishing as a finalist in the Red Hawk Rampage. She finished fourth in the state last season while at Forrest.

Johanna Pantojas, Riverdale: The 120-pound junior is 24-3, won the Red Hawk Rampage, was a finalist at the Ravenwood Invitational and was third at the Coyote Classic and Ramsey Rumble.

Reagan Patrum, Riverdale: The 114-pound senior is 21-4, won the Coyote Classic, was a finalist at the Ravenwood Invitational and finished third at the Red Hawk Rampage and Ramsey Rumble.

Maddy Sepulveda, Rockvale: The 235-pound senior is 13-4, finishing second at the Ravenwood Invitational and third at the Ramsey Rumble.

Ashleigh Williams, Stewarts Creek: The 235-pound senior, who finished fifth at state last season, is 9-1, having won the Rumble for the Rose and Shelbyville Queen of the Mat tourneys. She placed second at the Ramsey Rumble.
